Aalborg Energie Technik a/s Biomass Combined Heat and Power Plant
Swiss Krono Heiligengrabe, Germany
The Swiss Krono site contains a biomass-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant that generates 20,000 kW of electricity and supplies the MDF and OSB manufacturer with heated thermal oil and supplies flue gas for the drying process.
Besides traditional wood chips, bark, sawmill residue etc. the plant has extensive experience of combustion using a wide range of A1 - A4 fuels:
MDF-granulate from chipboard manufacturing
Sander dust with very high N content
Composted wood with up to 25% ash/inert material
Fuel from external sources
The plant utilises 130,000 tons of waste wood annually.
The CHP plant was delivered in 2003, and had an availability of 95% (8300 hours) in 2013.
AET carried out the design, engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of the fuel handling system, the boiler plant and the flue gas cleaning system on a turnkey basis. The systems supplied include:
Zignago Power s.r.l.–successfully producing Green Energy in Italy
The 49 MW Zignago Biomass power plant in Italy, owned and managed by Zignago Power s.r.l., belonging to the Marzotto family empire, has since its installation in 2013 been running with a very high availability (98,8%). The plant utilises wood residues and agricultural waste such as straw, mischantus and maize.
