Aalborg Energie Technik a/s (AET) Biomass Power Plant
The plant owners Electricity Suply Board (ESB), Green Investment Bank (GIB), BWSC and AET point out that the generated power is equivalent to powering approximately 70.000 homes.
Senior debt funding has been provided by the Danish Export Credit Agency (Eksport Kredit Fonden), Investec and Rabobank.
The Tilbury Green Power (TGP) power plant, with a net electrical output of 40 MWe, is fuelled with recycled waste wood e.g. from construction sites.
Due to the location close to London, directly by the River Thames, the power plant consumes approximately 270,000 tonnes of waste wood per year, which is sourced from the local catchment area. The plant created 370 jobs during the construction phase and approximately 50 jobs in ongoing operations.
AET and BWSC were responsible for construction and now for operation and maintenance of the biomass-fired power plant throughout a 20-year period.
The TGP plant commenced operations in 2017.
