Aalborg Energie Technik a/s (AET) Biomass Power Plant:

EPR Glanford (Fibrogen), UK

EPR Glanford (previously Glanford Power Station) is a biomass-fired power plant located on the Flixborough Industrial Estate, near Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire.

It generates 15 MWe of electricity which is enough to provide power to around 32 000 homes. The plant was designed for utilising poultry litter as the sole fuel, and was only the second of this kind of power station in the world to have ever been built when it went into operation in 1993.

The station is owned by Energy Power Resources Ltd (EPRL).

Both Fibrogen Power Station and Fibropower Power Station (the world’s first chicken litter-fired plant) were supplied by Aalborg Industries; today the project personnel involved are part of AET.

Fuel conversion to MBM

In 1999 and 2000, AET carried out a fuel conversion so that Glanford Power Station was able to burn 100 % meat and bone meal (MBM).

Very high availability in UK

Although the plant is 20 years old, the availability at the Glanford Power Station and Fibropower (Eye Power Station – its sister plant) is very high. Please see data published by OFGEM.

The supply

Employees at AET have carried out the original design, engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of the complete plant and AET upgraded the plant in 1999-2000. The total system supplied includes:
